"Tis the season

Hello neighbors, I just wanted to let you all know, for those of you who didn't watch the channel 5 news or haven't seen their website. That there have been reports of possible burglars in our area. It seems they are knocking on doors claiming they are accepting donations for the food bank. If they get an answer at your house they simply collect any donation you give them for the food bank and leave, if they dont get an answer they try to gain access into the house. Now I know it sounds horrible, but even when I am home many times I do not answer my door. It's not that I am trying to be rude or that I don't want to see all of you. I have had some issues in the past that make me very wary of answering the door, especially if my husband is not home. Besides, any of you who know me, know that it's nearly impossible for me to answer my door without my dogs getting loose and licking said visitor nearly to death. Let's face it, most of the time it's a solicitor wanting to sell us something we don't want. We have all heard that this time of year is when theives target the homes of those who have their presents all under the tree and such. I also, in driving through the neighborhood, have noticed some people leaving their garage doors open. Please be very careful and lets not give these crooks the chance to victimize our neighbors. Everyone needs to watch out for themselves and for your neighbors. I really hope I dont hear of anyone in our area being a victim. I hope you all have a happy and SAFE holiday season.

Christmas Lights!

If your next few weeks are anything like mine.... you are BUSY!  Thanksgiving, Christmas shopping, decorating,  and lots of parties.  Not a lot of spare time.  I know of one thing you can easily check off of your to-do list. Your Christmas lights on your home.  Plus, your husband won't fall off the roof!  (We do have a lot of steep roofs in our neighborhood.)  We have a friend from our previous ward who owns a Christmas Lighting business!  He does great work at great prices.  He is a great man who is honest and efficient!  He could use all of the referrals he can get in this tough economy!  If you are interested, give him a call.

Our RS Christmas craft day was a HUGE success!  Lots of fun crafts, new talents learned, lots of laughs, and great cookies!  What more can you ask for!

Shari was in charge of food!  We had a Christmas Cookie table to salivate over!
Valerie headed up Sacrament Quiet Books, and Church coloring books!  Big hit!
Tiena and her daughter were our wonderful baby holders!
Sarah and I were VERY thankful for them!  We actually got stuff done!

Andrea and Eleah taught a Temple Block craft!  They turned out AMAZING!
Ok, so... Tyra was trying to get out of my crazy blog photos... but I caught her anyway.
Isn't she a doll!
Liberti instructed us how to make fabric rings!  So trendy and SO cute!  Nice smile Lori!
 The laughing ring table!
Shari headed up darling kitchen towels with the days of the week on them!  Super cute!
Thanks to ALL who helped on the committee, do crafts, set up, clean up, and to all who came and participated!  It was a fun night, and we all got to know each other a little better as neighbors and as friends!

Neckties for your Tots!

Hello Friends!
I'm just getting the word out that I am making Utah and BYU neckties for little boys! I know most of you are so crafty you could just make your own but... Since we have such srtong supporters from each school (I see those flags waving on game days)...I thought there might be an interest for these. Let your boys show the other babies in nursery who they root for. They make great gifts for the holidays too. I make them pre-tied on an adjustable strap with a hook closure...so they can't be pulled off like the clip-ons or zip-up ties. They can be yanked on and drooled on and best of all...washed in the washing machine!
Neighboorhood price- 10.00/each
sizes 4mo-14yrs.
Call me at 801-695-5270
Available in...
U screen printed,
Y screen printed,
or
Byu & Utah official logo Fabric
Also, If you want ties made for family photos or for the holidays, just bring me the fabric you want them in and I can make them too. I usually only need about a quarter yard per tie.
Call me if you have questions or if you'd like to place an order! or see more options at http://trendytikes.etsy.com ...but don't order from the site, if you want any of them just call me and they will be cheaper :)
Thanks!!

Are you missing a set of keys?

I just found a set of keys at the bottom of my purse that don't belong to me or Karl. I have no idea how they got there, whose they are, or how long they have been there. There are keys for a Chevy and a Ford along with a bunch of other keys. If you are missing a set of keys let me know. They could be yours!

Primary Children's Hospital Donations

Hi, ladies!

I wanted to let you know that the cute baskets from our Six 'S' Night were delivered to Primary Children's Hospital a few weeks ago. We ended up with tons of fun supplies to fill these baskets, so besides the two that we put together that night, I was able to fill another huge basket with all of the crayons, markers, stickers, coloring books, etc. that all of you lovely ladies were so kind to donate.

I had my kids help put the last basket together, and our family went together for family night to drop off the baskets at the hospital. It was awesome to be able to involve my kids in that, and it was extra meaningful to me because I had stayed at Primary Children's for about a week when I was five years old. It was really cool to go back there again (even though so much has changed)!

The people at Primary Children's were very grateful for the donations, and I didn't fill out their form to receive a thank-you card, but I wanted to let you know that they were so happy to get the supplies and I know there are lots of little children there who will really appreciate them as well. Thanks again to all of you for your generosity - I loved being able to be a part of that project.

Have a wonderful week!

email account hacked

Today I discovered through a coworker that emails were sent out using my email contact list claiming that I am stranded in London and need money. I did not send those emails and who ever hacked into my account deleted my contact list and any sent/recieved emails I had so that I couldnt contact anyone to warn people this was happening. I am very sorry to any one who got one of those emails. I am sorry if any of you suffer any problems as a result of whoever hacked my account. I hope that there will not be any one else who has a problem from that email scam. I have changed all my passwords to try to prevent it from happening again, but have lost all my contact info to send appologies to everyone in my contct list. I asked Lonnie Cluff to send out a email telling everyone not to open those emails and to delete them so that those of you who didnt already open them could delete them before you open them. I am so very sorry for this mess and send my appologies to everyone who got one of those emails. Thanks-Teri Brimhall

6 S NIGHT!

Here are the pics from our fun RS Meeting last night!
What a BIG success it was!
We were able to help out  4 different organizations in the community and have fun doing it!!!

These ladies were working on quilts for the Saratoga Police Department.
(They can keep the quilts in the back of their police cars and distribute as needed.)

These quilts turned out SO cute!  Good work ladies!
Below:  These ladies were having fun putting together a bunch of school/crafty supplies for the Primary Children's Hospital.  We got A LOT of donations for this!  Thank you everyone!

Below:  These ladies were making little tiny hair bows for the newborn baby girls at the AF Hospital.
They did a FANTASTIC job!  And they made TONS!!!

Below:  Is the CRAZY group!
They were working on 1st Aid Kits for the Womens-Childrens Center for Abuse.
Thanks to everyone who donated the items needed for this!  We were able to reach our goal of 15 kits, and we even had a bunch of extra supplies to donate to them!
I asked this group to smile, and within one second, they were all posing and smiling at me!

They had so much fun with the "smiling pose", they wanted to do a "silly face" pic.
So here you go!
THANK YOU so much to all who donated items, served on the committee, helped set up/clean up, made food, and came to help make the night a success!  I think this is one of my favorite events!   Hope you all had fun!

missing shoe?

Hey everyone, last night when I got home I had a donation on my front parking. I am posting this so that anyone whose child lost a small sandal can come and claim it. It is in front of my house @ 1279 Meadow Run. So if your child is missing one brown sandal (could be either a boys or a girls), please come and claim it. Hope you all have a great day. Thanks.

It Really is a Pond!

When I tell people in the neighborhood that I live across the street from the pond I often get blank stares. Yesterday, however, Pondside Park proved that yes indeed it really is a pond!
Aren't you glad we didn't have to have our ward breakfast there yesterday? Thank you Pondside Park for doing your job as the retention pond you are and protecting our houses from the all that rain. :)

a big thanks

i have to say thank you to a lady in the neighborhood. i came home friday, completely drained from the week and knowing i had a weekend of yard work ahead of me (one of the first weekends i have been able to actually set a side for house and yard work this summer). i pulled into my driveway and found this person down on hands and knees pulling my weeds out of my flower bed. she wanted to be done and gone before i got home, but for once i got home early. i have fallen really far behind on keeping the weeds out and they have taken over. i am very grateful for this persons help and she will never know how much i appreciate her time and effort. i did not ask for help and am not happy about my yard looking so badly. i have to say that with all my husband and i have to do and all that we have been through, that this ward and neighborhood is the best group of people anyone could ever have the privledge of knowing. there are so many people who have gone the extra mile to help others. i just wanted to say thanks again for the help and for all the effort and time that meant much more than just having some weeds gone. i was reminded once again, that people care about one another. something that i think gets lost in day to day life. i hope one day i can repay this person and/or her family for her kindness.

Baby Jars Needed

For the Relief Society Pampering party we
need baby food jars so we can fill them with
aromatherapy bath salts you can take home for your
relaxation. Please spread the word to give them to me
or Karen ASAP. Thanks so much!

Trouble Posting?

I've heard from a couple of people that they are not able to post anything on here. If your name is in the "Who's Here" section, you should be able to post. Make sure you are signed in (upper right corner). Once you are signed in there should be a link in the upper right corner of the screen that says "New Post." Click on that to make a post.

If your name is listed to the right and you cannot post, please comment on here and let me know. (You can try to make a post and then cancel so it doesn't actually post. So give it a try to make sure you aren't having problems.)

If your name is not listed, but you would like to be able to post, please leave a comment with your e-mail address so I can send you an invitation to be an author on this blog.

Thanks everyone!

Book Club!

Hey, ladies!

I'm going to be starting a book club and wanted to start getting an idea of who would be interested so we could figure out what days are good and such. I LOVE to read and I know I'm not the only one, so if anyone is interested please leave a comment on here.

Please spread the word! I know a lot of ladies in the neighborhood don't look at the blog, so share the news with your friends. Since it isn't church sponsored, it can't be announced in church, so the only way to spread the word is this little blog and word of mouth. So please let all your neighbors and friends know so we don't miss anyone who might be interested.

To contact me either leave a comment, call me at 319-8535, or e-mail me at karl_shari@hotmail.com.

I'm excited to get started, so let's get the word out quickly!

The Relief Society is having a cooking class on wheat.

Nursery will be provided.

Rachel said, "I will demo how to make things with basic food storage that kids will eat if they have to, a great wheat bread recipe, homemade wheat thins and graham crackers, and wheat gluten and bulgar recipes that helped me not feel so helpless over having wheat and not knowing what I would ever use it for in case of an emergency where I had to use it."

72 Hour Kits

We had a lot of fun at our Relief Society Activity! We made a total of 84 "72 Hour Kits". A big job, but we had a lot of laughs in the process. Trying to squeeze 3 days worth of meals in a #10 can is no easy task! Here are the pics from that night!
